No cheat sheets: when you pull 2" Sch 40 off the rack, what outside diameter are you fitting to? I keep 2.375" in my head so my hi-lo and clamp choice is right, because sloppy fit-up turns into bad welds and unsafe pressure tests.
I set my crescent to 2–3/8 and use it as a quick go/no-go on 2" NPS before I grab hi-lo, @OP; Sch 40 or 80 share the same OD, but don’t mix it up with 2" tubing at 2.000. You ever try the wrench trick?
I’d say keeping 2.375" in your head for that fit-up is smart. It can save you a lot of headaches later on. Just be careful not to confuse it with the actual wall thickness — you want to stick to Sch 40 and 80 for consistency. Have you had any issues testing under pressure with those fits?
And you know, it’s like trying to pick the right tool for the job; if you mess up the diameter, you’ll end up with a fitting that just won’t cut it. Always remind yourself that 2.375” is your friend, especially when it’s crunch time. By the way, have you ever had a real nightmare trying to mix up those measurements?
