We cut purge time and gas by installing purge dams a few diameters from the weld and taping off branch stubs/instrument tees — “dead legs kill purges.” If bladders or soluble paper aren’t permitted, we’ve spooled in a short blank and kept a cracked low-point drain to bleed pockets. Skip the sealing and it’s like trying to air out a house with all the closets open.

We’ve cut O2 down quicker by cracking a needle valve on the purge outlet to hold about 2–3 in. w.c. backpressure — keeps flow laminar and clears long runs faster; just don’t overdo it and lift the dams, @v_cooper.
